About the Project
Two Moos partnered with Sesame Workshop, Qualcomm and Magnetic Dreams to create an educational, dual-screen game prototype. The unique experience allows preschoolers to interact with their favorite Sesame Street characters in a way that’s never been possible before!
Powered by Qualcomm’s AllJoyn multi-screen technology, the prototype sees Sesame Street’s resident fairy, Abby Cadabby, invite children to join her musical band. Abby flies from TV to tablet screen and back again as she instructs and interacts with the child, opening up a magical new teaching opportunity. This Sesame Street Abby Cadabby game is a world-first experience everyone can enjoy!
Abby’s Fairy Rock was devised as a proof of concept, dual-screen gaming app. It was developed on prototype hardware and powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor and AllJoyn peer-to-peer technology, coupled with Unity for stunning 3D graphics.
A unique challenge was how to storyboard and export 3D animation sequences that were to move seamlessly across multiple screens. We worked closely with animation company Magnetic Dreams to develop a storyboard template that suited both animators and technical engineers. The result? Abby comes to life in beautiful color and stunning animation that enchants kids and adults alike.
How it Works
The innovative game has children use a tablet to create a character for themselves while Abby flies between the TV screen and the tablet screen to help. They then choose an instrument and have a fun time rocking out with Abby as she teaches musical skills!
The project was launched at CES 2013 as part of a Qualcomm showcase of peer-to-peer technologies and was an amazingly well received and popular demo! Since then, Abby’s Fairy Rock has been showcased at many other conferences including GDC and SXSW.
